A Classy Claus…

Who says Santa has bad taste? (although that red suit is a bit passe’). Still struggling with your gift list? Talbots has a beautiful luxurious winter collection of shimmery dresses, cashmere sweaters, and silk wrap tops. The Wool Toggle Coat is on the top of my “cozy” list. Definitely no longer your “Mother’s Store”, Talbots has graduated from prep school and is a chic sophisticated store that must be revisited.

Ralph plays Rugby

Attention Fashionistas and Sports fans! Worry no more. Ralph Lauren has the field covered. His  new holiday “Rugby” collection delivers a real box-kick.  With it’s rich romantic velvets, dressy black layers and pops of plaid, one definitely doesn’t want to get left out of this game!

Rejoice and Rejuvenate

Our skin can take a beating at holiday time. Sugar, alcohol, cold weather can lead to three rather unattractive (if not plain dreadful) words: acne, dehydration, and dryness. Why not just ask Santa for coal in your stocking? But seriously ladies, take some precaution and save the red nose for Rudolph. Here are four products that I recently discovered that will ward off these for aforementioned evils and keep you looking your holiday best. First, you wouldn’t do out without deodorant so don’t skip hydrating with La Roche–Posay’s Hydraphase Intense Riche. Its double action technology infuses skin with hyaluronic acid reinforcing cellular cohesion. Yup, sounds scientific but does the job. Plus, all products are made with active antioxidant filled water from The La Roche-Posay spring in France. Secondly, checkout Capital Soleil SPF Ultra light Sheer Sunscreen Fluid. I love how sheer it is!  So stealth like that it slips right under your make-up without making you look greasy. A third “find” is Obagi-C RX System’s exfoliating day lotion. I apply it to my clean skin and let it go to work! The lotion is like a take home facial without the effort and cost. Finally, all of this moisturized skin needs some color! Try Australian Gold SPF Continuous Spray With Instant Bronzer. A quick and easy spray that will keep you looking healthy and sun drenched when you can’t get way for that winter vacation to South Beach.

Lisa Lisa…

Lisa Robertson’s bag of gifties might just give Santa a run for his money (or his elves). Check-out her Bare Minerals Box of Gems 20-piece color collection of stunning eye and lip shades. Or perhaps you’d like to countdown the New Year on her Melania Madison Avenue Bold Case Bracelet Watch.  This watch screams Uptown with it’s clear round crystals and mother-of pearl dial. Finally, wrap it all up in Lisa’s Dennis Basso Button Front Ruffle Collar Coat with a Rosette collar. Available on QVC.

Forget Your Tree…

What could be more exotic then decorating yourself with beautiful gemstones from the Philippine Islands this holiday season? The original pieces from The Cayetano Legacy Collection are gorgeously bold and will definitely make a fashion statement at any holiday soiree! Designed by Karen Cayetano (Tommy Hilfiger and Dolce Gabbana), the company is run by three sisters, all first generation Filipino Americans. The trio wanted to bring worldwide attention to the beauty of their lush country, supporting programs that enable both the creation of jobs as well as economic growth.  A few of MY favorites are below… (In case Santa reads this) but be sure to checkout their entire collection:

Tricks and Twirls from “Twilight”….

Tricks and Twirls from “Twilight”….

I’m happy to announce that I got my “Bella” on at the The Century Plaza Hotel last week. In the midst of a major “Twilight” convention, I was introduced to the Pro Beauty Tool Twilight line. For mere humans, this means you can now can get some serious Vampire hair. Take it a step further and choose which movie character you want to look like by picking the appropriate hair tool. How cool is that? No wigs. It’s all you. The secret is in the styling products according to on set Twilight celebrity Hairstylist Beatrice De Alba. After you purchase your tools, hop on utube and watch her tutorial videos. Here’s a tease of my favorite, Bella:

I love the look of the entire line. Sexy and sleek.  Create your own movie set at home. When your  finished styling your hair, go look in the mirror. You’ll swear you’ve been bitten.

A Trip Down The Runway With The Dorchester

The Dorchester Collection not only knows how to accommodate us at luxurious hotels around the world, but they also know how to put on a pretty smashing runway show as well.  Sponsoring a cutting edge fashion competition with a generous Dorchester Collection prize, I was invited to watch the final showdown at the infamous Beverly Hills Hotel last Saturday evening. Sitting in the front row, filmed by America’s Top Model, I was transported to Paris, as I viewed the newest fashions and Jewelry from the four designers: Giuletta, Julian Louie, Siki Im, and Anndra Neen.  Let’s just say I was in good company…the judges included W's contributing fashion editor Giovanna Battaglia; author and editor Derek Blasberg; award-winning designers Thom Browne and women’s creative director of Calvin Klein Collection Francisco Costa; Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa; Shala Monroque, creative director of Garage Magazine; Moda Operandi co-founder and creative director Lauren Santo Domingo; and Vanity Fair contributing editor Elizabeth Saltzman.

I was extremely pleased with the winner “Anndra Neen”, Jewelry designers and sisters (talent does run is in the genes) Phoebe and Annette Stephens. I simply adored their gold “cage” belt. A must have when you want to rock that that sexy Athenian look!

We were treated to Domaine Chandon and fruity Belvedere cocktails. Although I had to dash out to put on my Halloween costume, I couldn’t help but wish I had done a Cinderella move and left my gold slipper behind. I would have liked to have come back and seen more…but alas, there will a 2012 Dorchester Competition with another round of gifted immortals.

Wrap THIS around your body!

For the Icon who created the infamous “Wrap Dress”, Diane Von Furstenberg, or as her friends know her, DVF, has created the perfect scent to compliment her clothing.

Rightfully named “DIANE”, her new fragrance opens with bold notes of Frangipani intertwined with subtle hints of violet and base notes of myrrh, musk and patchouli. Seductive and feminine.

I have the companion body lotion. It’s long lasting. Definitely a show stopper as I can attest. I literally have been stopped! I know that’s only supposed to happen in commercials but a unique scent is hard to find and I was happy to share my secret.

That’s a wrap…for now.

10 Commandments by INC…

I had the good fortune to get a sneak peek of “Dark Shine”, the yet to be released short film featuring fashion editor & international style icon Anna Dello Russo and the INC November collection.

Like shiny spinning tops, the models sashayed down the catwalk covered in beautiful black sequins, sparkles and collectively interesting shapes and textures.

Not only is the film eye candy but  also a quick “how to” wear this season’s best offerings.

Ten commandments by Anna Dello Russo if you want to rock your INC look:

1. “The wet look is a new way to wear shine”.

2. “I like the mix of shine and short”

3. “Sequins, metal sparkles all lool like liquid”

4. “It’s all about variations on the tuxedo”

5. “The little tuxedo jacket is boy/girl sexy”

6. “Wear a romantic top with sleek trousers”

7. “Floaty blouses look best with leggings”

8. “Always mix textures and proportions”

9. “Contrast lace and sequins. Soft and Hard”

10. “I love the balance of shine and shear. Fitted and flowing”

Post that those on your mirror and you can’t go wrong!

I Chose Choo!

I can barely wait to flip through the pages of this beautiful homage to the our favorite Choo to wear!
